SkiThe region presents excellent conditions for ski sports. Bansko is situated at 936 m above sea level allows snow cover to remain permanently in place from December to April every year. The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The Pirin mountain has a predominantly Alpine character with three peaks towering above 2900 m. The skiing area comprises of over 65 km in ski runs and tracks for all types of skiers, from novice to the experts. The the ski runs are maintained in excellent condition with the assistance of snow machines and other equipment. The region has some 60 km of new ski runs to be put into operation over the next 3 years. Since 2003, the resort is equipped with the latest state-of-the art Doppelmayr lifts, including an 8 passenger Gondola ropeway, 4 - seater chairlifts, 2 - seater chairlifts, T - bar lifts and platters. The night skiing exciting experience is also available. Since 2000, the resort disposes of cross-country ski tracks at present with a length of 16 km. More tracks are being planned over the next 2 years. The skiing season starts in early December and ends in mid to late April. |
